Saabierah Towfie

Saabierah is a clinical psychologist, born and bred in Cape Town. Completed her B. Psych (Cum Laude) and M. Psych degrees at UWC. She completed her internship as a registered counsellor at The Saartjie Baartman Centre for Abused Women and Children, which was a privilege and honour to be a part of. After graduation as a registered counsellor, she started working at The Cape Town Drug Counselling Centre. She started her Masters Degree thereafter and had the privilege of working at various tertiary hospitals as an intern, including Stikland and Tygerberg Hospital. She completed her community service year at Lentegeur Psychiatric Hospital and thereafter had the opportunity of working at the Centre for Student Support Services (CSSS), Akeso Kenilworth Clinic, Stellenbosch University and Lentegeur Psychiatric Hospital in the Male Admissions Unit. Additionally, she has been trained in BWRT and is a level 2 practitioner.

Working at various health facilities has provided her with a broad range of experience, ranging from substance use to recovery from psychosis, allowing to assist others in their journey to mental health, allowing for a deep sense of empathy, unconditional positive regard and value for the therapeutic relationship. She views therapy as a collaborative process, drawing from multiple frameworks and each intervention is tailored to the indvidual.
